Housing in safe areas is the most pressing need of these refugees of Muzaffarnagar who have been left to fend for themselves. AFMI, in coordination with local NGOs, has come up with a plan to help rehabilitate them by constructing homes in safe areas so that they rebuild their lives without any fear.

Model homes constructed by our local partners
Land has been identified in the following locations for construction:
1) Shahpur Distt. Muzaffar Nagar, UP
2) Saraye ,, ,,
3) Rourkaly ,, ,,
4) Basai Kala ,, ,,
5) Panjit Distt. Shamli, UP

Each house is being built for an average family of 5-7 members. Every unit will include:

20X10 Room
5X8 Kitchen  8X11 Veranda 4X8 Bathroom cum Toilet
20X10 Open ground According to our estimates each unit will cost an average of  $3,000-$5,000 (USD).Land prices are rising in the entire state and so is the cost of construction material. The sooner we start, the more cost-effective the project will be.
AFMI’s plan is for  the construction of a minimum of 100 housing units. If enough funds are raised the project can realistically be completed within six months time.
